Valentine’s Day is such a funny holiday.
Part of me questions why society feels the need to create a day of grand gestures and showering our S.O. with flowers, chocolates and an overpriced prix fixe menu just to show how much we love them. The other part of me absolutely loves the tradition of it – I mean, who doesn’t love a surprise bouquet delivery (if you’re in Fort Lauderdale, you must check out Flowers and Found Objects – not sponsored, their arrangements are just that stunning!) In a world where the nightly news is heart-wrenching and depressing, it’s so refreshing to have a day where we all come together to celebrate LOVE. It’s such a great reminder to us all to remember what is most important in life - showing others just how much we love them.
For all my Fort Lauderdale girls, I’ve pulled together a few ideas of what to wear to some of the most romantic spots in Fort Lauderdale to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
One of my favorite date night spots in Fort Lauderdale is Valentino’s, one of the area’s best kept secrets that is quickly become one of the most buzzed about spots in the city. I’ve been a frequent diner since they opened in ’06 and haven’t looked back since my first visit. The pasta has been considered some of the best in the country, and their tiramisu is to die for. To flaunt your best assets and give a nod to the romanticism of the holiday, pair the SPANX Faux Leather Pencil Skirt with a red lace cami.
There is nothing more important to me than my friendships with my girlfriends. A group of us have created the annual tradition of spending the night before Valentine’s together for a “Galentine’s Day” dinner to toast to our friendship. This year, you can find me wearing my favorite Gentle Fawn jumpsuit and sipping Prickly Pear Margarita’s at Canyon’s Southwest.
Pro tip: Canyon's Happy Hour deal includes $7 Prickly Pear margs at the bar!
Since my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s (read more about that here), I’ve created the tradition of taking her out to Valentine’s Day brunch at one of our favorite spots. It’s so important to me to take the time to be with her and do the little things together that we both love. It just so happens that for us, that includes eating salmon salads at The Capital Grill. I love the idea of creating a subtle nod to the warm hues of Valentine’s Day with this floral velvet top.
