I love the start of the new year – there’s something exhilarating about starting fresh with new intentions, new routines, and new fashion trends! With awards season just around the corner, I’m excited to share with you the Hollywood red carpet trends I predict will be flooding our feeds this winter, from the Golden Globes to the 2019 Oscars!
Through the red carpet moments and statement gowns that our favorite celebrities choose to wear, we viewers get a unique glimpse into the personalities of Hollywood’s A-list. Do they take themselves too seriously, or do they dare to be different? From the rich colors and unique cuts of their dresses (or pants!) to the jaw-dropping statement jewels and enviable hairstyles – I gather so much of my personal wardrobe inspiration from what I see on the awards season red carpet.
Keep reading to see my top three red carpet predictions for 2019, and how to incorporate each trend into your own wardrobe!
Much like hue of the awards themselves (Oscar, is that you? 👀), this stunning golden shade was all over the runways for the spring season and I won’t be surprised if Hollywood’s leading ladies take on this daring sunshine color for their red carpet moment.
One question I often get is how to wear yellow for your skin tone. Girls with fair skin should opt for a mustard, dark yellow or pale yellow hue – like this. For my olive-skinned fashionistas, experiment with lemon or bright yellows, like this wrap dress. Those with dark skin tones are the luckiest as they will look amazing in just about every shade.
Shoulder-dusting earrings were another trend seen all over the runways this year. For the red carpet, I’m excited to see these statement pieces paired with simple neckline gowns to really allow the earrings to shine on their own.
Hot tip: Complete the look by tucking your hair behind your ears or pulling it into a super cute hair twist to further emphasize your earring bling.
What was once a shade synonymous with African safaris (à la Meryl Streep in Out of Africa), khaki is now being called “the new black”. This simple color, and other similarly-muted tones, are likely to make their way to the award shows this year in sheer fabrics with beautiful details like beading and embellishment. Like black, dressing in the monochromatic khaki beige is incredibly easy, requires little thought, and pairs well with nearly everything in your closet. Take inspiration from this cute draped jacket and skort pairing!
