How did you get to where you are today?

I grew up eating a highly processed food diet, and spent most of my 20s continuing those poor habits. I wasn’t aware I needed to change anything, until I got pregnant. It was the first time I had actually thought about what I was putting in my body. A constant diet of Coffee, Croissants, and Coke’s wasn’t going to cut it anymore. So I slowly began to make some changes, eating less processed food and cooking more from scratch. But I had two young babies 14 months apart, and I couldn’t spend hours in the kitchen, so she created practical ways to simplify life in the kitchen. Real Food for Real Life is what I call it.

What is your elevator pitch on what you do?

Through my website, workshops and online courses, I guide people how to eat more Real Food and less processed junk, and show tips and strategies for simplifying life in the kitchen.  The Real Food Scout brand is all about Real Food for Real Life.

How do you define success? Do you consider yourself “successful”?

Success is a tricky one. I mean I would have said I was a success the day I started volunteering for Jamie Oliver. I was passionate about something and I took action. To me that is success. So to define success for me, would be to say that when you find what you love to do, start now. Most of us are waiting for this future for things to be ready, don’t wait, it’s all a continual process and journey  just like food, so start today. As for the day to day, I am continually working, tweaking, and evolving my business to come up with ways that reach my audience in the best way possible. Everyday is different and some days feel successful and some days don’t, but that doest stop me from pushing forward.

What have been some of the most rewarding things in your career thus far?

The daily messages I get from people who tell me I changed their life in some way, with a recipe or a tip and simplified their personal food journey, it just doesn’t get better than that.

What have been some of your mistakes? What have you learned from them?

Um, I think I make them all day, every day. The only way to grow and improve is to try something. Take a risk, test the waters, and then adjust and move forward.  Making a so called “mistake” is the only way to learn and improve, so bring on the mistakes!

What do you still want to achieve personally and/or professionally?

Every day I’m just trying to reach more people and grow my audience. I’m so passionate about food and getting the word out that real food can be simple and can simplify your life and better your health too. So, for me, it is really just about growing the brand so I can help more and more people. The more of us are on board with real food, the faster we can change our broken food system and tragic health epidemic.

When was the last time you were overwhelmed and cried from something provoked by work?

Usually every 4 weeks, like clockwork. Hah. It’s a cycle, pun intended, but there is a quote I love about the creative process, emotional roller coaster. “This is awesome. This is tricky. This is shit. I am shit. This might be okay. This is awesome.” I just love that because it is so true, it flows like that constantly, so it is helpful that when are you down, you’re usually not there long.

How has your career affected your personal life/relationships?

I feel really lucky to have such a wonderful support system and friends that encourage me and my business and passion. It can be hard to balance because every time I see food, I’m thinking or ways to incorporate it into my business, and I see food a lot because food is everywhere, all day long.  I rarely take a minute off or away from work, but my business has allowed me to meet some amazing people in the real food community and that has been a real joy in my life.

Have you ever thought about giving up? What provokes those thoughts?

I do, I have moments all the time. It’s the nature of the beast for sure because I’m trying to motivate people to change habits and old programing around food. It’s really challenging. It was and still is challenging for me personally because of my food history.   Sometimes I feel like I’m swimming upstream, and beating my head against the wall, and then the added extra challenge of fighting against the huge, powerful, influential food industry. This is when those friendships in the real food community really help out, because we are all working “alone” so to speak, but our voices are all working together. We will continue to grow and will make an impact on our food system and our health. I just keep believing and celebrating the small victories.

 What causes you anxiety/sleepless nights?

I eat well, most of the time, and I go to bed early, so sleep well. Really well. I don’t stay up extra late to finish things or push through, I chose sleep 98% of the time, and it all gets done eventually, but me on a bad nights sleep is just a wasted day ahead and usually a day filled with poor food decisions too. So sleep is a top priority for me.

 What makes you happy?

My kids, cooking and eating with family and friends, scouting out new real food approved places to eat and just a good hard laugh with friends. I love to laugh and I make a effort to do it a lot. I even have this bracelet on my arm that says laugh to remind me to not take things in this life so seriously, just laugh. Shake it off and laugh. Hard.

What advice would you tell your 21 year old self?

Stop rushing. There is no finish line, and there is no end. The journey is all you’ve got, so just enjoy every little detail of your days, they go fast.

What is the biggest misconception about what you do?

People assume I eat “healthy” all the time. I don’t. They assume my kids eat “healthy” all the time, they definitely don’t. It’s also assumed a lot of the time that I am a nutritionist and I have no interest in that right now. My interest is not talking about the vitamins. minerals and calories in certain foods, my interest is in getting us to eat more vegetables, more real, whole foods, less sugar, better quality packaged foods for real life, and making all of that easy, practical and fun. We don’t need nutritional degrees to eat real food.

 What is your favorite quote?

Less is More. I believe less of most things really simplifies life and brings a lot more wonderful things to life as well.

Hello Darlings, My name is Hannay Yoder and I am the writer/luxury stylist of the Fashion Blog at www.hannayyoder.com I am a cat lover, coffee obsesser, vintage squirreler and social butterfly amongst many, many things! I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What inspired you to start your blog? How long have you been blogging?
I was inspired to start my blog by Lauren Conrad and Cara Loren and I’ve been blogging for 2 years. Growing up I had THE WORST sense of style and these ladies gave me hope! *laughs* Once I discovered that dressing does take effort and it’s an art, I fell completely in love with it. There is nothing more delightful than inspiring people through something as tasteful as clothing.

screen-shot-2016-12-05-at-9-13-07-pm

Describe your style? Where do you find your style inspiration?
My style is one word would definitely be “Luxurious” I love anything with a princess style, tulle skirt, high heels, fur coat, you name it. If it’s luxurious, you’ll find it on my person. I glean most of my style inspiration from Lauren Conrad. She amazes me with how she mixes the perfect amount of girly with practical and chic!

What is a timeless fashion piece you can’t live without?
That’s a tough question! My goodness. It is a perfect toss-up between my string of pearls and my classic black pumps. It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing, a dress or a pair of casual jeans, a pair of pumps can take you from frumpy to fabulous in an instant! If you don’t have a pair of classic black pumps… you can sneak away for a bit to get some as long as you come back.

screen-shot-2016-12-05-at-9-12-52-pm

What are some of your favorite Fall 2016 Trends?
Ah, my favorite fall trend of them all has to be the off-the-shoulders (bardot) look. I love how effortlessly sexy and feminine the style is. I don’t care if it’s freezing outside, I like my bardot tops and I probably style them a bit too often. Haha! i also adore, adore, adore the OTK (ove the knee) boot style. It’s more dynamic when it comes to a statement, but I do adore a good statement.

One piece of advice you would give to any start up bloggers?
I know they say, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” but do not let that allow you to lose yourself. If you have a “wacky” sense of style, go for it! If you have a “hippie” sense of style go with that! Be you, be unapologetically you! Don’t pay a piece of attention to the negativity, focus on shining and being confident in who you are!

Hi guys! My name is Jen Saviano. I’m an entrepreneurial enthusiast, author of the blog MissLifestyler.com and lover of all the good things in life. I live in sunny South Florida and balancing out my life the best way I know how. You may recognize me from season 20 of the Bachelor and/or season 3 of BIP… if so, you know I’m really bad at reality TV and should most definitely stick to blogging;)

miss lifestyler lilac and lilies

What inspired you to start your blog? How long have you been blogging?
Inspiration to start this blog sparked from my overall mission for Miss Lifestyler; which is to help my fellow millennials balance out their lives the happiest and healthiest way possible… all while looking damn good along the way! I also LOVE to write and dish out my two cents, and I now have the perfect platform to do just that.

Describe your style? Where do you find your style inspiration?
As far as my personal style, I have always gravitated towards simplicity. As Coco Chanel would said, “Simplicity is the key note of all true elegance”! I aim to strike a balance between classy and conservative with a touch of sexy… I never show off too much or too little! I’m not a fan of bold patterns and you’ll usually only find me in solids. I tend to follow the trends as far as styles.

What is a timeless fashion piece you can’t live without?
My favorite timeless piece I can’t live without: cutoff jean shorts! Especially living in South Florida, cutoff shorts will always be a go-to on the warmer days. Love me some One Teaspoon!

What are some of your favorite Fall 2016 Trends?
As always, Fall kicks off oversized sweaters, flannels and pumpkin everything. However this year I’ve specifically been loving the neck pieces. Whether it’s a scarf, wrap around fabric connected to the top or a simple choker necklace… I’m always reaching for neck candy to spice up my look.

One piece of advice you would give to any start up bloggers?
If I were to give one piece of advice to new bloggers, it would be to start branding yourself early on with your blog as well as all social platforms. When someone comes to your site and/or Instagram, how do you want them to feel? What do you want them to get out of it? Choose a couple fonts, colors and overall vibe that best suits you, and try to implement that into all your posts. Also be consistent with your writing! (ok that was 2).

Favorite place to work on your blog? Creative Space?
Most days I blog at home but I love to switch up my work space environment. I’m pretty sure I’ve blogged in every coffee shop in South Florida. Give me a triple shot almond milk latte and I’m a writing machine the rest of the afternoon!

What inspired you to start your blog? How long have you been blogging?

I launched LICP in February 2012 as a way to connect with local, like minded women in the fashion industry and inspire others through my personal style and fashion journey.

Living In Color Print  122A5018

Describe your style? Where do you find your style inspiration?

I feel my style is dictated by seasonal shifts and what type of mood I am in. I would say I often gravitate toward feminine silhouettes (fit and flare, billowy layers, and bell sleeves) and soft florals, however I can never get enough of ripped denim and oversized boyfriend tees. I find inspiration mostly throughout my travels. For example, last September after my first trip to London, I walked away wanting to only wear black jeans and oversized outerwear. The weather may have attributed to that wardrobe shift, but it was still eye opening to see what people across the pond rock on a daily basis. On the flipside, during a trip to Tokyo, I walked away not necessarily wanting to dress like a local, but the influence of vibrant colors and pattern play was something pretty magical to take inspiration from.

What is a timeless fashion piece you can’t live without?

The black loafer. Each year I see the style continue to be a staple within the majority of designer collections. Always reinvented or slightly tweaked season to season, whether it’s a play on texture, adding a heel detail, or making them backless (as we have seen the last couple years). Each detail as small as a shift it may be, continues to make this piece relevant year after year.

Living In Color Print    Living In Color Print

What are some of your favorite Fall 2016 Trends?

The continued menswear inspired pieces, the recent explosion of bell sleeves, and mono-neutrals all around!

One piece of advice you would give to any start up bloggers?

I would recommend going into it with a clear picture of what your goals are for your blog. Whether that means educating yourself on blogging as an industry, stalking your favorite bloggers websites for layout inspiration, or simply coming up with your own mission statement. Have all your ducks in a row and reference back to your original goals once you get started to ensure you’re staying on the path you intended. This industry will open so many doors that you never even imagined were possible, but maintaining your integrity along the way is the key to success.

Favorite place to work on your blog? Creative Space?

I would honestly say my favorite place to work is my home. It’s a comfortable space for me with little distraction where I feel I can be the most productive.

Name: Madison Morton
Blog: The Salty Vogue
Website: www.thesaltyvogue.com

Short Bio
Hi babes! I’m Madison and I run a life and style blog called The Salty Vogue. I’m a fifth generation Florida native who lives with my high school sweetheart and our two fur babies. I’m a twenty something entrepreneur who loves working out and soaking up some good Florida sun- but with a big floppy hat and sunscreen of course!

What inspired you to start your blog? How long have you been blogging?
Well, I guess you can say my love for fashion started when I was four years old. I would go in my grandma’s closet, steal her Ferragamo’s, then shower myself in her Chanel perfume. Fast forward to high school, I was an avid Googler. I wanted to learn EVERYTHING from fashion to wellness and everything in between. So, I put the two together and BAM…The Salty Vogue was born. I actually started blogging a few years ago, but I never had the balls to make it public. Three months ago, I pulled the trigger and I’m so glad I finally did.

IMG_3145

Describe your style? Where do you find your style inspiration?
My style really depends on my location and the weather! If I’m going to the Bahamas, I’ll dress boho chic. If it’s raining out and I haven’t had my morning coffee, I’ll go all Parisian and wear black head to toe. When I’m not wearing gym clothes, my favorite style is minimal. Jeans and pumps are my go to. I usually keep an eye out for what’s trending on the catwalk or I’ll just visit Lilac and Lilies for a little styling time!

IMG_3141

What is a timeless fashion piece you can’t live without?
I would say my red pumps are a timeless fashion piece. I believe every woman should own a pair of spicy red pumps! When I walk into a room wearing them, I instantly feel confident and beautiful. Red screams girl boss. After all, “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.”

What are some of your favorite Summer 2016 Trends?
I actually have a whole list written down of spring trends I’m diggin’. Only so I can snatch them up. Anyways, this is what my list is looking like so far:
+ Round beach towels (boho chic theme print, obviously)
+ Denim (a girl can never have to much denim)
+ Slip dresses
+ Flat Mules
+ Chokers
+ Bomber jackets
I want it all and I want it delivered!

IMG_3144

One piece of advice you would give to any start up bloggers?
I think there’s a few points that every new blogger should know when they first start out. When I first started my blog, I didn’t know what the hell I was doing, and I wish I had someone to help me and say hey, instead of doing that, you should do this. SO, for new bloggers:
+ Stand out and be unique. I think it’s important to share valuable information that will benefit the reader. So none of that, “you should be wearing plaid because fall fashion”. At the end of the day, you are writing FOR the reader.
+ Be yourself. Let your personality shine through the computer screen.
+ Quality over quantity. It’s better to have a few really bomb ass posts rather than a lot of crappy posts. Make sense?
+ Be consistent with your posts.
+ Lastly, take pretty pictures! Presentation is important.

IMG_3149

Favorite place to work on your blog? Creative Space?
My friends make fun of me because I bring my laptop and camera everywhere I go! You never know when a blog post is going to pop up in your head! Most of my inspirations behind my blog posts, are just from everyday life. If you read my blog, you know I like to get down and real. It’s weird, usually I’m running on the treadmill or taking a shower, and I’m like “Oh my gosh, I have to tell my readers this!” When I want to feel like a normal working person, I’ll blog in my little home office. But I only blog, if the vibes are just right. Candles, diffuser, lounge music, and a cup of java!

Born in Miami, but now based in DC and NYC, as well as Miami. I am a fashion and travel blogger who believes strongly in mixing high end pieces with high street items.

How did you start Fashion Blogging?
I’ve always loved fashion, as cliché as that may sound. I would always love dressing up – or down – but truly enjoyed putting outfits together. I started posting OOTD mirror selfies on Instagram in 2014 and I recall receiving good feedback from friends and family. Soon after, I went public with my profile, and continued receiving even more feedback so I decided to go all in and so ChristieFerrari.com was born in January 2015.

Describe your style?
My motto is mixing high end with high street. I am a firm believer that one does not need to be dressed in expensive designer clothes to be “Well-dressed”. On the contrary, it is the combination of properly-picked items that make the outfit. If you have the ability to have a pop of high end, it only elevates the outfit, but doesn’t necessarily “make it”. Mixing the right pieces of streetstyle fashion with pops of high end pieces is the quintessential balance I like to achieve.

What are some pro’s and con’s of Fashion Bloggers?
As with everything, there’s a variety of people that have chosen to be fashion bloggers. It’s a great outlet for people that enjoy fashion! Most of the fashion bloggers that I have met have been very nice and the blog has been a great way to make new friends, both in NYC/MIA/DC and around the world! I don’t know if fashion bloggers have cons in particular. Like in everything, there are all sorts of different people that blog, each with his/her own pros and cons!

Where do you find your style inspiration?
I think it really depends on the city or location that I’m in. This has a huge impact on my style at the time. Miami, for example, calls for louder colors, while DC is more preppy in nature. NYC on the other hand is much more edgy and monochrome with only some pops of color. When traveling, I also think of where I’m going to be and dress for the location. Ibiza calls for very different outfits than St Barths, for example!

Photo Mar 25, 5 34 28 AM

One piece of advice you would give to any start up bloggers?
I think the main thing is: Remember the reason you started doing it. It’s easy sometimes to get overwhelmed, in particular when you have other obligations. Blogging is time-consuming and not as easy as many would have you believe. Remember you got into it because you love it and want to live it every day. Don’t chase the money, the likes, the features. Do what you love and success will come your way.

Favorite place to work on your blog? Creative Space?
I don’t think I have one! Obviously, the beach would be the answer but an unrealistic one! The truth is that I work on the blog everywhere – at home, on the go, on planes, on vacation, etc. So my favorite place would have to be where I am when things needs to get done!
