Spring/Summer 2010 Runway Looks for Less

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Kelli

Every fashionista wants to look fabulous while keeping her latest Rebecca Minkoff wallet full.  Here at Lilac And Lilies, we have come up with some great ways to look like you just stepped of the runway, while not spending a fortune. We reviewed the Spring/Summer 2010 runway shows and found some amazing designer looks for less.

Our first look comes from the Rebecca Taylor runway show. Her spring line is all about pretty pastel flora’s mixed with bold patterns.  We instantly fell in love with this look; it is ultra feminine and perfect for hot summer months.  Normally this look would cost anywhere from $200.00-300.00. You can get this look for less by wearing this Lucca Couture dress that is just $75.00. Polish off the dress with gold Gorjana hoops, $60.00, bringing the total of our similar look to $135.00.

The next runway look comes from Nicole Miller. This look is incredibly chic and modern. To mimic this Nicole Miller look we chose a Parameter blouse in a beautiful teal color ($64.00) and paired it with sequin shorts by Funktional ($75.00). As the finishing touch we added a cuff bracelet by ZAD that retails for $20. Drum roll please……our look cost about $160.00 and looks oh so stylish.

The last look that we love comes from Erin Wasson x RVCA. This look is a funky mix of feminine colors and fabrics, while bringing in a men’s fashion influence.  The jeans that the model wore down the runway retail at $350.00 alone, which would bring the total price of this look to well over $500.00!!!! Instead we paired a pair of grey skinny jeans by Genetic Denim, for about $180.00 with a tube top by Tresics for $16.00 and topped it off with a men’s inspired button down blouse by Patterson J. Kincaid, Blue Label, for $97.00. This brings the total look to around $300.00, which is less than the price of just the runway jeans, WOW!

Michelle Headshot

One of my favorite aspects of my job is doing photoshoots. Kelli and I have been planning for months how we were going to go about our upcoming lookbook. Our original plan was to leave early and head to the Bahamas for the day. Due to the rough seas we were unable to go but decided to go with plan B and shot locally.

The team consisted of Kelli, Lilac and Lilies store manager, Heather our photographer, agi, our makeup and hair stylist, Jessica, our model, Anthony, stylist, myself and our boat captain and crew. With all of these seasoned team members, I knew that this was going to be the best lookbook yet . . . third time’s a charm!

We met at the dock at 9:00am sharp and off we went. While we were scouting out the first location, Jessica was in hair and makeup and Kelli and I were brainstorming looks. The captain suggested that we dock up on a small island, this was a great idea and we took his advice. We wanted to shoot our new Jay Godfrey churchill racer dress in a unique way. The concept that we came up with was a date gone horribly wrong. Jessica had escaped from her nightmare date and made her way to the beach to relax. This is my ultimate favorite dress that we have in stock!

For look 2 we used the Gypsy 05 maxi dress. To show the length and fullness of the dress, we had Jessica climb a ladder on the side of the boat.  She looked amazing with the wind blowing through her hair and the dress. Anthony picked out some really great accessories to go with this maxi including one of our Patrice rings and Amrita Singh bracelets. We were really happy with how elegant the dress looked in the frames.

On location 3 we docked up to a friend’s house.  Here we shot three different looks. Our favorite from this location was the nautical themed outfit. We matched some cute high waisted Lucca Couture shorts with a brand new Patterson J. Kincaid tank and added anchor earring to finish it off.  The finished photo turned out fabulous!

Our last location was the beach. Kelli and I had really wanted to do some Sports Illustrated inspired photos and this was the perfect opportunity. We got some of the most beautiful shots from the whole day on the beach. The jeweled tunic by Black looked so stunning with the sun setting behind Jessica and also showed a whole new way to wear this top. We also decided to do some unique product photography. Make sure you check out the lookbook, which is up now to see all of the final photos.

Overall, the shoot went extremely well.  We had an awesome team and some great merchandise to work with. I can’t wait for the next one! As always feel free to post any comment, Kelli and I love hearing from you.

Until next time,

Michelle

Spring has Sprung!

Kelli

Alright I know what you all are thinking. . .spring? Really?  My response, YES SPRING! I know it’s only January but spring fashions are already arriving here at Lilac And Lilies and we are ready for it. This season we have picked up some really great new lines like BB Dakota, Gorjana, Bailey 44 and Gypsy 05, to name a few.  Don’t worry we still have all your other favorites like Sugar Lips, Rebecca Taylor, Black Halo and Mink Pink.

I am very excited about BB Dakota. They just recently picked up a lot of press for being featured in the movie New Moon. The Spring/Summer line is outstanding! It’s a mix of girly dresses and fabrics with a sexy yet playful edge. I can’t wait to get the Brian tank in it’s so cute; it has a mesh back that’s going to go great with a bandeau top. To top off my look I’m going to accessorize with Gorjana jewelry. They have amazing accessories that are affordable. The celebrities are fans of this line too.

You guys asked for it so we got it, Bailey 44. They are super chic but have a hard edge for those of you who love to rock.  I can’t wait for you to see the pieces we picked! Another great spring/summer line is Gypsy 05. The designer Dotson Shohom has some great maxi dresses and tanks. The coolest part is that Michelle got to meet him in NYC, so cool.

Well I hope that you guys are as excited as I am for the new spring lines.  Stop by to check them out or shop on-line.

Happy shopping!

This white bohemian top with blue flowers and singing birds by Joie is perfect for hot summer days. Wear it playfully with shorts in the daytime or with jeans and pumps for a fun night out!
