I am proud to announce that the recent Fashion Fundraiser hosted by Lilac And Lilies Boutique and local socialite Liz Camp, raised over $2,000 to benefit The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Liz is part of the organizations fundraising team and a runner with Team Fox that’s training to participate in the New York City Marathon on November 7, 2010. Liz and I are avid supporters of the Foundation and wanted to host an event to bring awareness to the cause and raise money for Team Fox. Over 75 VIP’s from the community were in attendance and we also had The Morning Show on the CW tape a segment that morning to discuss the night’s Fashion Fundraiser which further drew publicity to the event and cause.

The Fundraiser was held on of Wednesday, July 14 and featured an evening of shopping, cocktails and catering by Pizza Fusion and Mediterranean Market. Guests browsed new summer collections from Black Halo, Trina Turk, Bailey 44, BB Dakota, Jay Godfrey, LnA and ZAD as well as accessories including Whiting & Davis Handbags and Alkemie jewelry with 20 percent of sales benefitting the Michael J. Travel Diary: St. Barths

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

9121--022a-lr

My goal as the owner of www.LilacAndLilies.com is to constantly immerse myself in upcoming trends and bring them to you, my awesome and fashionable clients! Not only do I jet off to Los Angeles, New York and Las Vegas regularly, but I make sure to take an international trip once a year to really keep my finger on the pulse of the fashion industry.

This year’s international trip was to the beautiful St. Barths in the French West Indies islands. The French heritage influences everything on the island, from the food, style and music to the accents and easy-going, yet refined attitude. My first couple days on the island were packed with plenty of beach time, eating and shopping in their amazing designer district packed with Hermes, Cavalli and amazingly special boutiques. I quickly snatched up a couple beautiful Cavalli sketches that I plan on framing and hanging in the store. Although I wanted to shop and see more of the culture, there was adventure to be had. We loaded on this huge yacht and went snorkeling. The water was so clear and calm that I was able to see so many colorful fish.

Okay now, back to the fashion! Summer weather in St. Barths is warm and breezy with plenty of sunshine. I lived in my LA Made dress, gladiator sandals, bikinis, lightweight scarves and cover ups. I’d have to say my favorite purchase on the trip would have to be a yellow starfish-printed one-shoulder dress that I used as a beach cover up. I love one shoulder tops and dresses as they exude an understated elegance. Check our Hearst One Shoulder top by Jay Godfrey.

Overall, I had an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience and I can’t wait to hang my new Cavalli prints and infuse my new muses into the store and online at www.LilacAndLilies.com! What summer vacations have you taken lately and what kind of styles were you noticing? As always, feel free to post your comments!

Lilac and Lilies in City Link!

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

Michelle Headshot

Everyone arrived yesterday promptly at 2pm,  Joaine Cox, writer for City Link, Dana Rhoden, from Tres Koi P.R. and Liz Harlow, our model. The task at hand was to recreate looks inspired by 90210 and Mad Men. These looks are going to be published in City Link within the next few weeks. This shoot, like many of ours, was taken at Lilac and Lilies.

Our first look was inspired by the character Naomi Clark on 90210. We had Liz wear a fuchsia sweater dress by Adam Lippes, the mega star necklace by Jules Smith, layered with a butterfly necklace by A.V. Max, to complete the looks she wore leggings by See You Monday.  Liz even held school books to replicate the image of Naomi.

The second look was inspired by the hit show Mad Men.  Joan Harris has a very classic and tailored look. To execute this we had Liz “our model” wear a faux suede wrap dress by Plastic Island.  Amrita Singh earrings and the Jenna bag by Lockheart completed this style inspiration.

We are so excited to be published in City Link and as soon as we get a hard copy we will post it to our blog and Facebook. Please be sure to leave your comments, I love your feedback.

Celebs Love Lilac And Lilies

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Michelle Headshot

I never know what to expect when I walk into Lilac And Lilies every morning. Yesterday, I got a phone call stating that Amber Heard, an up and coming actress from movies like Pineapple Express and Stepfather, was in town. She was attending an event with Virgin America and needed someone to style her for the evening. I of course jumped at the chance. Kelli and I googled some of Amber’s red carpet looks, to get a feel for her style. We found her looks to be young, hip and have a glamorous 50’s type vibe. We started pulling looks from designers like Yoana Baraschi, Black Halo, yumi Kim, Myne and Madison Marcus.

After I was all packed up and ready to go, I headed down to South Beach to meet Amber for a private fitting. Amber immediately fell in love with the Riley Dress by Myne. This is an amazing dress and my favorite part is the back, where there are cutout elements and an exposed zipper, very classy. Next, we accessorized with a clutch by Alexis Hudson. Amber truly looked fabulous!

So now we can say that celebrities love Lilac And Lilies, here’s the proof!!!

until next time,

My Day at the CW

Friday, November 6th, 2009

Michelle Headshot

My alarm went off promptly at 5 am. After a night of tossing and turning, I was not ready to get out of bed.  I knew I needed to be at the studio at 7 am and could not be late. It was Fashion Friday on the set of the CW’s morning show and I was so excited to talk fashion. This week’s inspiration came from the shows of the CW, 90210, Melrose Place, Gossip Girl and The Vampire Diaries.

I decided to wear my favorite Adam Lippes sweater dress, with my new killer over the knee boots. Next stop was to pick up Natalee, one of the models and make our way to the Sun-Sentinel building in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. I was really excited about meeting with Kristen Anderson, one of the Morning Show host and couldn’t wait to start the interview.

CW 011

We arrived with seconds to spare before the producer was calling us to set.  Lights, Camera, Action! It was show time. Natalee modeled the first look that was inspired by 90210’s Anne Lynn McCord. A Menswear inspired vest by Adam Lippes, with Genetic Denim skinnys, accessorized with a Chan Luu pearl necklace, is a look that I felt Naomi would wear on the show.  I had Jessica wear a Black Halo, Jackie O dress with an Alexis Hudson clutch. The inspiration for this look was the character of Ella Sims, played by Katie Cassidy on Melrose Place. She literally has to go from day to night in her clothes, that’s why I thought this dress would be perfect.

CW 002

The interview went by so fast; I couldn’t believe it was already over. Afterwards, we all chatted and felt content that we did an amazing job. I really enjoyed talking about two of my favorite things, fashion and the CW TV shows and I hope I get to do it again.

Owner of Lilac and Lilies: Michelle’s Parisian Paradise!

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

I just came back from what is believed to be the fashion capital of the world, Paris! Every summer I try and go on a trip and well, let’s say I went all out on this one. We were in France for a total of 11 days. 3 days in Paris, 4 days in Normandy, and 4 days in the south of France.

On my first official day in Paris, we were walking on Avenue Montaigne and you would never guess what I stumbled on… a Manoush store. I just had to go in. It was so whimsical and feminine. I noticed they had the “Top Noir” and the “Embroidered Top”, which we have in stock! I was so excited to see Lilac and Lilies clothing in Paris.

Manoush in Paris

Seeing the Eiffel Tower was another iconic moment. It is an image I have always dreamed of seeing ever since I was a little girl. You can’t help to feel a bit of emotion when you actually walk right up to it.

Amazing!

The women in France dressed in a casual chic way. I saw lots of distressed denim, oversized accessories, like a great statement ring (check out ours by Mali Sabatasso) and soft leather totes.

I had and amazing chance to go to Grasse and visit Galimard’s Perfume Factory. It is here where I formulated Lilac and Lilies first scent. It is reminiscent of walking through a lavender field on a bright summer day. Subtle lotus flowers accent the undertones of oakwood, eastern sandalwood, and a gentle overtone of chocolate, sweet almonds and sugar. Soft and powdery, simple, yet elegant.

SNAPS FOR JAY GODFREY!

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

World-renowned designer Jay Godrey

Jay Godfrey is a unique and ultra-chic designer based out of New York. One of his first jobs was for men’s designer Hugo Boss, while attending

college for business and accounting. Once graduating, Godfrey worked on Wall Street, designed his own collection, attended Parsons School of Design, and ended up interning for Oscar de la Renta. Godfrey’s collection inspiration is all about the finely dress silhouette of the New York woman. With world-wide fans, largely consisting of celebrities like Eva Mendes, Katherine Heigl, Jennifer Lopez, and Sarah Michelle Geller, to name a few, Godfrey’s name is definitely a part of the media. From Women Wear Daily, ELLE Magazine, Cosmopolitan, and even New York Post have all featured Jay Godfrey. With such accomplishments, Parsons Alumni Achievement Award of 2008 was presented to Godfrey. If this was not enough, Tyra Banks featured Jay Godfrey on a episode of America’s Next Top Model as a special guest designer, and was able to dress the models in his red carpet collection.

Hats off to you, Jay Godfrey.
