Back in November of last year I was asked if I would be interested in being one of Ft. Lauderdale’s finest catches. Gold Coast magazine wanted to do a story in their Feb. 2010 issue on 6 individuals who are described to be single and successful. Now you are thinking exactly what I thought when I was asked. To publish in a magazine that I am single is somewhat embarrassing and I didn’t know how to react to it. After much debate, I decided to take them up on their offer. After all, they were doing the photo shoot with a make-up artist/hair stylist and a fashion stylist, how could I say no to that.
This opportunity also had a deeper meaning to me. As a female entrepreneur, I want to inspire other women to follow their dreams and take risks. There is no better feeling in the world than to be seen as a successful, single female in the community. Ever since I was a child, my mother has always embedded in my head to never take no as an answer. I saw her complete medical school and raise 3 children on her own. To me, this makes her my role model.
The shoot was held at a swanky hotel in town. I am always behind the scenes of a photo shoot, so this was a nice change for me. I wore all Lilac And Lilies merchandise, a Yumi Kim jumpsuit and a Black Halo romper. We took some shots by the hotel pool and in the lobby. I had a blast!
To my surprise, they used one of the photos as the cover. I am happy that I decided to go through with this and I know that in 20 years I will look back on this experience and smile.

As owner of Lilac And Lilies, buying is an important element of the job. I literally could view over 100 different collections per season. Myne is one of those collections that excites me season after season. Ashley Ann’s pieces are beautifully made using the finest materials. Her style is fun, flirty and feminine. So during my recent trip to Los Angeles, I was determined to secure an exclusive interview with Ashley Ann, designer of Myne.
I met Ashley in downtown LA at her studio to get a sneak peak at her 2010 summer collection. The line consists of bright colors like lemonade, pink nuoveau, strawberry and dodger blue. The silhouettes are perfect for those hot summer nights. I especially loved the maxi dress and romper. Ashley took the line to a new edge by incorporating belts with some of the new styles… I loved the color contrast!

LA Day 1:
After arriving yesterday in LA I promptly headed to Robertson Blvd to get some inspiration for Lilac And Lilies. I couldn’t sleep last night because I have so many ideas! Today I have an exclusive interview with Ashley Ann, designer for Myne. This will be filmed then uploaded on our blog and YouTube.
I did some serious buying for Lilac And Lilies today. I promise you are going to LOVE what I bought for the store and website. LA has a unique style that I can’t wait to bring to you.
It is much different then NYC in the sense that all the showrooms were grouped together in three main buildings which was great. I shopped The Cooper Design Space and The New Mart.
The highlights from the day I would have to say were meeting Ashley Ann, designer for Myne and Carsten Schlamovitz, designer and owner of Love Shop. Tomorrow I am headed off to meet and mingle with the celebs at The Golden Globe gift lounge and hand out Gift card to LilacAndLilies.com!
LA Day 2:
Celebrities LOVE Lilac And Lilies!!!!! Today was an amazing day from start to finish. I met with celebrity stylist Kristen Turner for coffee at King’s Road Cafe then headed off to The Gloden Globe gift lounge. Audrina Partridge from The Hills said she is a HUGE fan of designers Black Halo and Yumi Kim. Felicity Huffman mentioned one of her favorites is Rebecca Taylor. Stephanie Pratt is a huge fan of Parker while Amber Herd loved just about all the vendors we carry. I was also excited to met Bridget from The Girls Next Door, she is so nice and so was Ashley Jones from True Blood, love that show. What an Amazing Day!
LA Day 3:
Day 3 has turned out to be another amazing day!!! I got the opportunity to hand out more LilacAndLilies.com gift cards to celebs like Jennie Garth from 90210, Jessica Weixler from Medium, Chelsie Hightower from Dancing With The Stars, and Paris Hilton and they are all looking forward to shopping at LilacAndLilies.com!!! Gilles Marini from Sex in The City and DWTS even came by to say hello too and he made sure to pick up a gift card for his wife.
Tomorrow I am resuming my search for unique LA designers. I have a whole list of showrooms and studios that I have not even seen yet. It will be a fun adventure and I cannot wait to get back to FL to show all of our Lilac And Lilies fans what’s in store for this spring.
Note to self….NEVER wear Louboutins to an 8 hour event again. What we do for shoes……

Alright I know what you all are thinking. . .spring? Really? My response, YES SPRING! I know it’s only January but spring fashions are already arriving here at Lilac And Lilies and we are ready for it. This season we have picked up some really great new lines like BB Dakota, Gorjana, Bailey 44 and Gypsy 05, to name a few. Don’t worry we still have all your other favorites like Sugar Lips, Rebecca Taylor, Black Halo and Mink Pink.
I am very excited about BB Dakota. They just recently picked up a lot of press for being featured in the movie New Moon. The Spring/Summer line is outstanding! It’s a mix of girly dresses and fabrics with a sexy yet playful edge. I can’t wait to get the Brian tank in it’s so cute; it has a mesh back that’s going to go great with a bandeau top. To top off my look I’m going to accessorize with Gorjana jewelry. They have amazing accessories that are affordable. The celebrities are fans of this line too.
You guys asked for it so we got it, Bailey 44. They are super chic but have a hard edge for those of you who love to rock. I can’t wait for you to see the pieces we picked! Another great spring/summer line is Gypsy 05. The designer Dotson Shohom has some great maxi dresses and tanks. The coolest part is that Michelle got to meet him in NYC, so cool.
