Kim Phan is the designer behind Yumi Kim. You could say she was into fashion design the moment she could. Instead of playing dress up with her friends, Kim Phan actually tried to make the clothes from scraps and old vintage items. She designed her own prom dresses because she enjoyed it and after her graduation from the San Diego State Uni, Kim Phan moved to New York to take on a job in the music industry. But obviously, fashion was her calling, and she quit her job to design the Yumi Kim collection.
